GOVERNANCE
The School Board of KoroBoro International School is committed to supporting the school to become the best deliver of the IEA Curriculum, as possible for the students and the professional development of the staff.
The School Board is dedicated to the school and is effective in helping define the strategic direction of the school and questioning and challenging to ensure excellent practice across all areas of school development.
As in all IEA Schools, our School Board is accountable to IEA Board of Directors and plays a fundamental advisory role to the Principal. For more information about the IEA’s governance structures, please visit the IEA Website for accessing the appropriate documents in relation to governing schools.
BOARD OF GOVERNORS
The Board of Governors represents the school community of KoroBoro International School. It is made up of elected parents’ members, an IEA representative, the Principal and a staff representative. Staff are encouraged to take an active interest in the Board as it is through this body that recommendations are made to the IEA on all matters, including staff terms and conditions. Meetings are held on a regular basis throughout the year. A Deputy Principal from each site also attend the meetings. They have speaking, but not voting rights.
The Role of the Board of Governors
The KoroBoro School Board of Governors have a representative on the IEA Board and therefore contributes to decision making. In all other respects, though the School Board is governed by the IEA Board and has to act with IEA policy. So it has a voice in setting the policy, but, having set those policies, it is subject to them and to their directions. It is answerable in completing financial records, audits, school reviews, and can ultimately be dismissed by the IEA Board of Directors.
The School Board’s authority is a delegated authority, because the IEA Board in most cases actually oversees all IEA the schools. That philosophy delegates most of the daily responsibility to School Boards within substantial freedom, but is ultimately still a delegation.
The KoroBoro School Board has a number of sub-committees that deal with the following:
- Financial Services
- Capital Works and ICT
- Teacher and Senior Ancillary Staffing, Education and Student Welfare
The sub-committees meet prior to the full meeting of the School Board.
An aim of our governing body is to be as open and as approachable as possible, therefore the School Board members are keen to hear from you, if you have any questions relating to the school from a strategic perspective. To reach any of the School Board members, please drop an email to info@koroboro.iea.ac.pg or leave a message at the school reception with your question and an answer will come back to you. Please indicate which board member you would like to respond.
An Annual General Meeting is held each year before the end of June.
