BACKGROUND HISTORY OF KOROBORO

KoroBoro International School is part of the International Education Agency (IEA) of PNG and as such is committed to connecting learners and providing lifelong learning experiences within caring environments. The IEA has a strong commitment to leading international education in PNG.

KoroBoro International School has a long tradition (well over 50 years) of providing quality international education. Our ex-students have gone on to take significant positions in government, business and the public service.  At KoroBoro we have high expectations of all our students.  Staff are invited into partnership with the parents to ensure that the students are supported in embracing the many opportunities provided at KoroBoro.

The Boro Campus (Site) is the old Boroko East International School site which was officially opened on March 25, 1961 and then merged with Port Moresby International High School on January 1, 1994 to form the primary section of one school (Pre-school - Grade 12). In January 2000 the school reverted back to its original name and its structure until 2017.

Koro Campus (Site) is the previous Korobosea International School site which was officially opened in January 1964 and was known as Korobosea “A” School back then. It became part of the IEA schools in the late 1976. It is one of the oldest schools and was a respected International School in Port Moresby. It was in January 2002 that the school joined with Boroko East International School to become one with two different schools under one name which was Korobosea Boroko East International School, but still had two Principals.

In 2017, Boroko East International School and Korobosea International School merged to form the KoroBoro International School with only one Principal, one leadership team leading the whole school – Kindy to Grade 6.

Whilst the School remains separate geographically, we are all part of one large community, which provides exciting opportunities for holistic development and making new friends.
